The school was started with 10 deaf children  on 27th June 1984,on the occasion of  105th Birthday of " Helen Keller"a lady of success  in life by over coming her multiple    handicap (i.e.both deafness and blindness). Now there are 560 deaf children in two regular Spl. Schools catering education from pre-school to Inter mediate both in Telugu and English Media.these two spl schools are recognised by the state government.we have two centers,one is situated at Ramakrishnapuram Secunderabad covering eight districts of Telangana in Andhra pradesh.

There are about 9,500 cases benefited through our regular clinic and rural camps and820 hearing aids were distributed to the poor needy hearing handicapped individuals in the state of Andhra Pradesh.Now, the Institution has extended its services by opening the multiple disabled units for Deaf-Blind; Deaf-M.R.; Deaf-spastic an unique program. There are 20 multiple handicapped children being catered education at Secunderabad center.

The institute was taken an initiative step to start a special Junior College for the deaf in the year 1997-98. This is the 1st Higher Educational Institution for the Deaf in the state."john Peter's memorial junior college for the deaf" has been named to this college to remember the service rendered by Mr.K.John Peter, our beloved young teacher of this institute.At present the college is providing with C.E.C and M.E.C groups both in Telugu and English media. The computer-training program has also being for the deaf as extra curriculum at intermediate level. The institution has also started B.Com, General/Computer Courses for the Deaf from 2000-2001 academic year, which is the second higher educational institution for the deaf in the Country.

As an unique attempt the institute has also launched a Legal Cell, Employment Bureau and Marriage Bureau for the deaf individuals,to provide Social Security & happy Life.
